One of Columbus' redeeming features: probably the best German restaurant ever (http://www.schmidthaus.com/), which has a vegetarian spätzle dish roughly the size of a Mack truck. When I can manage to finish the thing, it keeps me full for about a week.
This dish is made even more wonderful with accompaniment from the occasional live German music and das Bier. Mmmm.
I worked with a northern German company (they were all from Hamburg) one summer and they had NOTHING nice to say about the southern Germans. They sort of made them sound like the rednecks of Germany. o.O
