The last week and before I spent with Riikka, a friend of mine from Finland, whom I showed around the area and took time off work. There was a lot of self-reflection spurred by the visit and distance. We did get to visit Key West, do the Disney resort hopping and all manner of other things. Never got to the Ren Fest, Zoo or beaches, though.

Saturday I went to Orlando again, to see Emily before she scoots to Arizona. Listening to her talk about it made me want to move over too! She took me to Pei Wei, a bistro by PF Changs. I would so love to have one of those near where I live. All asian dishes, reasonable prices, you order at a counter and they bring it to you. Met Mike Sanders and Liana later, hung out, saw UltraViolet, a.k.a. "Milla Jovovitch is sexy and does fan service," Treasure Planet (Amelia is my new love), and Ripley's Believe it or Not. There are so many neat tourist traps in Orlando just waiting to be explored...

Sunday, sleeping in, laundry, taking care of chores and watching several episodes of Top Gear, as well as getting some Changeling RP in on the unmoderated chats, as hideous as they are. Followed by costuming scheming, as Carrie seems rather motivated to help me along a couple of projects.

If you miss the Ren Fest, I believe there's a Medieval Times restaurant down there that might serve as an entertaining substitute. :)

Mmmm, now I'm hungry for PF Chang's tofu lettuce wraps.

Luckily the Bay Area Ren Fest (BARF) runs for a good while longer. I just hope to get there before it gets hellishly hot! And we do, at least, have a PF Chang's here. And now I'm hungry :-)

I heard Ultraviolet was just awful but still...

"Milla Jovovitch is sexy and does fan service,"

Sold. *makes dreamy eyes at Milla* :)

I actually didn't find the movie /that/ bad. Sure, it's cheesy, and the attempt at a dreamy visual quality in the vein of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow fails miserably, and the only good dialogue happens when Ms. Violet brags about being a good killer, and sometimes the sets look like a bunch of film students went to the new mall nearby to do a shoot, and I probably would find something to criticize in the plot if I could find one and... Erm.

I still think it was a perfectly passable action romp of a sexy girl kicking butt. The matrixesque fight sequences were well coreographed, though the poses are pretty cliche, and perhaps I'm just a bit too controlled by my hormones, but watching Milla for the duration kept me sufficiently entertained that I do not mourn the loss of my ticket money.
