Day 6: More Temples and Shrines than LJ Allows in a Title

Nijo castle, Hokongo-in temple, Myoshin-ji temple complex, Ninna-ji temple, Kinkaku-ji temple, Wara-tenjin shrine and Kitano Tenmangu shrine. I also posted my path here.

Day 7: Uji sites.

Mostly poking around Uji (a town a few light rail stops south of Fushimi where I stayed) including Byodo-in temple, Hashidera-hojo in, Uji shrine, Ujigami shrine, Kosho-ji temple, as well as an unsuccessful attempt to see Daigo-ji back in Fushimi. Only three Unesco world heritage sites that day!

It's hard to explain why, but to me the Kosho-ji temple, pictured above, somehow was one of the prettiest of them despite being rather small.
