My alma mater did, instead of a crazy guy shooting up a college, get a guy with a hatchet and birch log threatening to make a campfire.

In response to the newspaper article on the matter people commented with:
-Carrying logs, especially birch logs, should be restricted. At least two independent medical opinions on the suitability of an applicant ought to be required to obtain a log-carrying permit.
-Campfires are to be banned at once!
-Instead of calling the police, the professor should have informed the individual that making fires in auditoriums is not allowed, and in order to light it anywhere he needs to apply for a permit from the appropriate ministry and pay a carbon tax remittance.
-The internet is full of dangerous instructions for making campfires.
-Charging the individual with carrying an edged weapon or threat of violence with a weapon is baseless. Since he brought a log with him, he had an obviously valid reason to carry the hatchet.
-What better place for mental health outpatient care than a university? (Which really was a longer comment that was actually disturbingly well argued.)

Well, a lot of this is really done with Photoshop rather than true tilt / shift, but neat anyhow. A demonstration on the power of visual clues we get from images. Originally from Chris.
