Friday I saw the Final Fantasy movie at the free anime night at the Universal Cineplex. It wasn't a real movie, but rather a video projection, but dear lord the size of said projector! The movie certainly required a lot more knowledge about the game than the original one, and seemed to consist of a lot more fighting. Still, it was enjoyable, and it was pretty. The audience was also delightfully geeky. In the sign of small worlds, one of the more memorable people in costume at DC ended up being the one hand-banding us for the movie. I'd definitely be interested in doing this again. Also met briefly with Gen at the theater, and finally saw the elusive Puck. We also spent some time at Jordan's and Wendy's, further depleting their supplies of snacks.

Saturday was mostly spent sleeping, and then playing around with some photography at Emily's. I attempted to do high-key, glamour work, and learned lessons.

1) (Need remedial work on this one) Make sure the eyes are in focus.
2) Control reflections!
3) Trying to bleach out the background with light will not work for full body portraits, and requires careful control of light for anything tighter than that.
4) When doing white backgrounds, there needs to be contrast between the subject and the background. No blondes or white clothing.
5) A flash meter would be swell.
6) Wash and tumble dry the backdrop. Right now it still has a few creases from original packaging, and they show!
7) Figure out what is messing up the camera's color temperature logic.
8) Pay attention to the models, rather than just technical issues. Pose and expression bring the picture to life. (And this really should be #2). QED.
9) Get Liz to do styling and direction again. She totally rocks.
10) Get Liz in the picture. See above.
11) In a high-key lit scene, vinyl and shiny leather almost took care of themselves, as far as getting good reflections goes.
12) Figure out better backdrops for next time.
13) Store filters in the equipment cases so they don't get left behind.
14) Much better idea of space required, now.
15) Preview photos on monitor between sets.
16) Emily and Liana are really pretty.
