Aug. 5th, 2005 08:23 pmAs a note to all that I plugged the band Mighty McFly to--Nikki, Bambi and Soumen left the band. No clues about Bambi's whereabouts, but Nikki who really was what made the band worthwhile and Soumen are starting their own band simply called Lixx. Based on the songlist they're doing covers of classics as well. Consequently, although McFly will play at DragonCon, most of my enthusiasm for going to see them has vanished. On the other hand, I eagerly await to see if Lixx can manage the same hyper-energy happy rock that the previous band was so good at. (Yes, Nikki and Bambi carried the band because they were really eye-pleasing on stage, but Nikki is also a damn good and showy guitarist, and that excuse makes my fanboyishness less pathetic!)
I finally skipped work early today (4:30) and went looking for apartments. Availability isn't too bad, but I'm still trying to figure out whether to spend more for a bigger place and possibility of finding a roommate, or just settle for a "luxury" one bedroom for about $740, which seems to be the going rate. Right now St. Croix is my favorite pick; I've lived there before, and their bang for the buck ratio seems most reasonable, although the apartments aren't quite as huge as those at some of the newer places.

Vince pointed this out: http://moon.google.com/. Too cool. Don't forget to zoom in.
On a much more serious note, for those of political persuasion, here's an article about what happened in Hiroshima 60 years ago.
