Meanwhile, stupidity still makes me mad. Work has been really busy with the pre-semester rush of connections, especially since the university is playing musical offices once more. One of these is for a department that shall remain unnamed. It's obvious that someone went through the trouble of checking out the new offices ahead of time to fit nifty new furniture tailored for the rooms in them and order it custom made and assembled. They also get new carpet, fresh paint, new ceiling and lights and all.
Now, if you can figure out how to measure and design custom furniture for an office, shouldn't it cross your mind that when there's only one telephone and computer outlet in the room, it shouldn't be in the corner opposite of the desk and computer cubbyhole?
Come next week, there will be a lot of people asking for really long cables so they can drape them around three of the four walls in their office to hook up their PCs and phones. Including the director, who has to go all the way across his (or her) very large office.
But even so, seeing moldy nastiness turn into nice and neat spaces makes me happy. Especially Chemistry, where I'll be spending all of tomorrow.
