I wonder how many people using the Internet today remember that the basic design premise behind TCP/IP networking and ARPAnet was, in fact, to create a network that could survive a limited nuclear war.
It's odd to think about it, but I much rather it found use to transfer porn, dating sites and stock quotes than remain a necessary military high-tech system.
