Right now it looks like I'm signing up for two graduate classes. Clinical insanity, I'm sure. Both are about "globalization" and both are taught by Prof. Amen, who I rather like based on my first class, and everyone I've spoken to has rated him between "good" and "great." One of these classes is a seminar--lots of reading, and we're supposed to start it with what research we've done, continue doing it in a collaborative environment, and then get graded by how much we managed to improve it and forward it. I'm a little scared, but on the other hand, it seems like a very valuable and useful class.

I continue to be impressed by the PoliSci department. The professors treat students with respect and interest, they spend a lot of time and effort grading papers in most cases, they'll discuss them with you before grading, and the level of expectations is high. Even more notably, the fellow students are remarkably competent, and generally deliver. I hate to sound elitist, but in way too many classes at USF I felt like I could practically sleep through them and pass with an A, and that a large portion of students in the class should never have been able to graduate high school. Not so in this grad program. They actually strike fear in me, since I know that the curve is not going to save me anymore, and I actually have to haul a lot of weight to keep up with the rest.

I also went to Aikido again. It was fun, and as usual, the main obstacle is getting over the inertia keeping me from it. I honestly don't know if I have it in me to keep at a proper schedule for again, though, as much as I'd like to--especially with two grad classes and the hopefully frequent drives to Orlando. One side effect is also that I'm slightly sore all over--combination of ending the class in hip-throws and having been a bit out of shape--though a lot less out of shape than I honestly expected to be after half a year of slacking off.

Finally, Vince came home with rice balls and dumplings. First, I ate his green curry, then these latest goodies. I feel like such a parasite. Well, a happy, sated parasite with a yummy aftertaste in its mouth.
