Random Emotional Moment

The context that brought tears to my eyes at the above is having just finished Sharon Shinn's "Jovah's Angel."
There are some things in this world I find myself really caring about, despite the soul-hardening study of political science. One of these is, as many of you know, space travel; the far future of mankind; the future a hundred, a thousand generations down the road.
Perhaps the most important aspect of occasional reflection such as this is that it puts me back into my place, and reminds me how inconsequential the little trials and tribulations of every day life really are. Yet, on a completely different level, it reminds me just how important for life the little things are--no, how important it is to not get smothered by the drugery of everyday, to take a figurative break, lift one's head and behold the scenery of what is, what has been, and what can be made to be.
