The Good and the Bad
Nov. 22nd, 2004 11:19 pmThe Bad: I get home from class around 9:30 pm, open a can of ravioli, have it explode over my shirt, and hence decide it's time for laundry. I proceed thusly, go boot up my PC to check email, and realize I need something to drink. I walk back into the kitchen, and discover that it's very wet. The washer, apparently, decided to no longer know when it should stop filling itself. So, the next hours are spent dustpanning, mopping and toweling water from the kitchen and laundry room.
The Good: If it hadn't been for the ravioli incident, I likely would've waited until tomorrow morning to do laundry. I've lived in apartments my entire life, and things such as doing laundry late at night strikes me as rather rude. However, had I set the washer and left for work, as usual... Also, if it wasn't for me forgetting my drink and returning to the kitchen just minutes later, I wouldn't have caught onto the disaster until it had actually become a disaster, my room being on the other end of the apartment. As it is, only a little bit of carpet got wet, and I think I got the water off the floor before much of it had a chance to seep through anywhere.
Still, no sleep for me. Pfoo.
At least I got my ritzy new Florida driver's license. Only two days before my current one expires, too... They're cutting this a bit close. So, overall, I think things turned out for the better all around. Just don't ask me to agree with that statement tomorrow morning!
