Another night. Another midterm. Another bikini contest. Need sleep. ZZzzz. On the good side, I got a raise after all. Raise meaning "cost of living adjustment" meaning "now your copays, parking, SEVIS fees, mandatory repatriation of remains insurance etc. are going to go up only half as much as you thought." Yay!

Okay, I have no excuse for my happy mood, but I don't care. Ahem. Anyhow, I figured that now that my LJ readership (Huh? Someone reads this?) includes some out-of-towners, and I've been horribly out-of-touch even with the in-towners, I'd see who, if anyone, is planning to show up for Necronomicon?

First, an interesting
article about the tilde. To further prove that the world may be a small place, the Jukka Korpela referred to in the article is one of the great strengths behind many Finnish USENET groups, keeping their SNR remarkably high and injecting an endless amount of use{full/less} knowledge into discussions.

Second, why are car taillights so badly designed? Sure, they fulfill their function, and many have imaginative shapes to fit into the design of the car, but the aspect of light, I feel, is horribly underutilized! Besides, even lights of cool shape tend to just have squares or circles of actual light coming out of them. What gives? Why aren't the colors in cool rings, maybe with gradations in intensity, or smooth large color surfaces, or something I can't even think of? The light and changes should mirror the external shape of the tail lights, or contrast with it, as opposed to being jarringly boringly boxy!
