Jeanne was a non-event. Gusty winds, a day's worth of rain, and that's about it. Power flickered a few times and everything was closed. Plenty of twigs around the apartment complex, a bunch of young trees in the nearby wetlands keeled over, plenty of downed branches at USF. Based on the Temple Terrace public safety channels there were a number of downed lines and trees around the area, blocking some roads. Overall, much better than I expected. Vince actually pointed out that he was impressed by the fact that the apartment didn't creak or shift or anything, pretty much all the ruckus was the wind throwing raindrops against the windows and slapping the mosquito nets.

Saturday I got my two Elmore prints that I had bought at DragonCon back from being framed by Dana. Holy cow. Once we get the apartment organized enough that I can hang them and break them out of the protective wraps I will have to post pictures. He really outdid himself this time. Larry gets a photo too, just because. So, again, if you ever need a good framer, Dana at the Montage Gallery in Dunedin is the man.

Finished YAP (Yet Another Paper, the essence of Grad School, this time on Bush W's National Security Policy) after midnight, and promptly forgot my (well, USF's) laptop at home, so I guess I will have to skip a bit of work today to go fetch it so I can actually print out said paper and hand it to prof. Ohaegbulam. Also got pretty much all of my German homework done during the day. It's a little annoying in that the homework is quite easy, but there's so much of it that it takes hours and hours to finish. But, then again, that's what language learning is about. The importance of this is the exam on Tuesday, for which all the homework is due. Now I just need to cram the vocabulary, as our teacher apparently wants to play synonym games within the vocab from this semester, so we don't need to know just any word meaning something, we need to know an exact word. Blah. But overall I'm still cocky enough to think I'll do well.

Finally, with the eye that wasn't on my paper and German all day, I peeked (thank you, [livejournal.com profile] moonwolf!) at Twisted Kingdoms, an online RP community (a.k.a. Muck), which so far seems pretty neat. People are in character, really friendly, and seem to be well balanced. Now, if only I had time for these kinds of distractions...
