I really am a lousy journal keeper. So, here's another utterly self-centered entry.
I saw Return of the King promptly at 12:01. Compared to some of my friends, who were gushing with infectious enthusiasm, I though the movie was good epic spectacle, but not really a greater-than-life experience. Then again watching a three hour forty minute movie in the wee hours of the morning after three hours of sleep and not being bored or sleepy at all is a pretty strong statement in and of itself. Regardless, I had a good time. Just messing up your routine to go do something geekily dorky with friends is worthwhile in its own right, in my opinion.
Work has been busy, including working in a basement room that due to construction can only be reached via climbing down a 9' ladder into a mud hole. The place really is remarkably reminescent of a hidey-hole for a displaced dictator. Well, except that this one has nice Internet connections.
Another fun thing at work today was chaperoning for a bunch of Swedish visitors. I was tasked with this most likely because I now look presentable, and because I'm vaguely scandinavian. My tendency to at least claim to know a little about everything didn't backfire too badly, this time.
The apartment is in pretty nice shape, largely due to my roommate's cleaning, and is now X10-enhanced. I hate the company's marketing, but it's the only decent DIY home-automation system I'm aware of. I guess I should have a housewarming party soon!
Also, I've (gasp) read three books! When you're not stuck with homework, it's amazing how you can actually devote some time for fiction. Hooray! Now I have to go and buy more!
