It's really amusing to see just how unobservant some people are as to the fashion/style/etc. of others. See the title of this entry. You won't understand until you meet me in person again, though.

Okay, I haven't updated the LJ for ages. Partly because of reasons I'm not going to go into and I'm not proud of, largely because it's been pretty busy, with class and the other class.

So, here are tidbits.

I got hooked on Crest of the Stars / Banner of the Stars. I now want an Abh uniform. I'm not sure which of my costuming-knowledgeable friends to sucker into this insane project, and I'm not sure what to think about becoming a too-old cosplayer. Oh, and I want to find a place to do vinyl cutting for car window stickers and stuff, so I can make geeky ones.

Class is funny. By last class, which was canceled again, this time by note on the professors door (not the classroom), and which consists 70% of people commuting from St. Pete through rush hour, some people were willing to lynch the professor. This is bad for him, because many of aforementioned students are hispanic girls, and the ones in my class certainly fit the stereotype of hot-blooded. I'm curious to see what happens, though for some reason feel pretty mellow about it myself. Probably since I'm not paying for the class, or rather lack of classes by now.

I'm enjoying the bouts of cooler weather. I really am. I just wish I had time for it. Alas, with my current schedule I have four days of 8-9 work and class, one of 8-11 work and hobby, and everything else, including homework, housework, grocery shopping etc. needs to happen on the weekend. I'm particularly feeling guilty for not having made it to the Japanese club meeting.

I still like conventions. Necronomicon was fun, and I look forward to the others. Maybe it's escapism? Whatever. Gonna keep going!

Got a new phone. Geek toys unite. If I was still in college for real, I'd be coding for it. But hey, it has a camera. How me is that? It's also big, clunky, and has a worse user interface than my old one. So much for progress.

Got to meet--sort of--Saotome-sensei, and got detained and questioned by a sheriff for taking pictures (two unrelated events). The resulting realization is that I seem to have largely lost at least some aspects of my fear of authority, as I wasn't horribly bothered by either incident.

I'm still really enjoying Aikido, though I'm by no means particularly good at it, and the more I practice it, the more it seems like art, a tool of philosophy and spirituality, and less like something useful.

I should be working on my term paper or class presentation for next week, and obviously don't feel like it. Slackers of the world, unite!

Was told I'd be trying sea urchin Saturday. Threatening Japanese person says it's yummy! Everyone else says it's the grossest thing they've ever had. I guess I'll see.

Stole some of the time I didn't have to go to Dana's party on Saturday, and had a good time. Cool weather, a fire, marshmallows, and dirty conversation with friends.

I need to get more Midori, and find a place that sells Lazzaroni Amaretto. And win the lottery and get a bottle of Lagavulin so I can make people compare it to Laphroig. As long as they're 21 or older. You can get married and fight in a war, but you can't drink a beer? This country is silly.

I should write essays of my bleeding-heart liberal views, so people can argue with me. Actually, I really do--the best way I've found to form opinions and reconsider perceptions I have is by having to present them coherently to other people, and have other people criticize, question, ridicule and challenge them.

I should plan a Firefly viewing party / housewarming. Alas, Amazon is being slow as a dog again, and for some unfathomable reason claims I may not get my preorder until next year, because they want to sit on it for nearly a month after it is released or something. Go fig.

So there you have it, my life in a nutshell.
