I'm still finding myself going to Aikido. Some of the techniques I get, some I don't. Overall its still fun, and a surprisingly good workout. I hope it's something that sticks! Now to get the gi, and the bokken, and the tanto, and the rest. The people in the Aikido club are pretty nice and very helpful too.
Jennifer's birthday party is Friday, and apparently a new goth/industrial/techno club is opening in Ybor, so the idea is to take the party there. I'll probably join, for some reason I feel like going to a club again. The older I get the more I club? Good times, hopefully!
Speaking of Jennifer, Steve is planning to run four one-shot games of various systems and settings. One of these is AD&D Planescape, for which he picked up a bunch of books in a going-out-of-business sale for peanuts. The setting and materials are actually really cool. I rarely get particularly interested about RPGs, but this one may prove to be a exception. Most of the art is by Tony DiTerlizzi, and I love it. Somehow the characters and settings are a lot more beliavable to me than the standard fantasy art in other books. Of course the slight Mezieres/Christin/Moebiusesque touches help! Not to mention the pleasantly coordinated look all the materials have.
The first of the games will be Cyperpunk, which I've never played. We glossed through some of the rulebooks, and it's all wonderfully 80s. You almost have to play that stuff to hair bands or glam rock.
