Every once in a while there's news that gives me renewed faith in humanity. Last night's class on issues in the Middle East had managed to make me wax both a little idealistic and filled with a sinking feeling (Hamas and the progress of democracy in un-democratic societies), but this article on the meeting between Muslim leaders and the Dalai Lama is one of the most positive stories I've seen in a while.

Did you happen to see the televised announcement when Iran's president (whose name I shall not even attempt to spell correctly) announced the successful uranium enrichment program? All these guys in Iranian peasant garb dancing with fake doves-of-peace around them holding up uranium vials?

Nope, don't have cable... But I'm curious. That's what I did my term paper on, too. (Iranian nuclear program, that is, not the dancing peasant girls.)
