PoliSci Factoiditis (Acute Statisticus)

Since 1974, 85 authoritarian regimes ended. These transformed into 30 stable democracies, nine short-term democracies, eight troubled democracies, four warlord states and 34 new authoritarian regimes. Four states broke up, another three reunified.

Nope, not really... Though on that note, I also just read a paper that looked at the whole idea of "democratization" in more detail. The outcome was, not surprisingly to anyone not a PoliSci major, that whether a democracy takes root and works depends on the country, its culture, and what's around said country.
That, of course, isn't horribly encouraging either.
