Weekend, with pictures
Feb. 10th, 2008 09:19 pmSunday afternoon photos
Saturday I visited Florida Token Kai, a show / convention for collectors of Japanese swords. It was not entirely what I expected, but interesting nonetheless. There was a lot more emphasis on historical items than on modern metalworking; if you wanted to spend $20k on a 17th century blade, you could. These $10,000+ items were just laid out on tables like a flea market; nowhere in sight were fancy display cases or spot lighting. It didn't entirely get me started on collecting :-)
The general tone for the weekend ended more negative, as I received a payment reminder from the lawyer for an extra $1200 I never got billed for, presumably for all the H1B work that never actually got anywhere, since my Green Card interrupted it.
